fa cup draw
So the "big teams" left in all avoid each other
Coincidence, or something more sinister?

Re: fa cup draw
West Ham United’s Premier League fixture with Manchester United at London Stadium will be rearranged after the Red Devils reached the Emirates FA Cup sixth round.

Jose Mourinho’s side were due to visit Stratford on Sunday 18 March at 1.30pm, but their fifth-round victory at Huddersfield Town on Saturday evening means they will now be in FA Cup action that weekend.

A date and kick-off time for the rearranged Premier League fixture with Manchester United at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park will be confirmed in due course.

Wigan or Manchester City v Southampton

Leicester v Chelsea

Manchester United v Brighton

Sheffield Wednesday or Swansea City v Rochdale or Spurs

I suppose it is just a coincidence? A bit like the League Cup quarter final draw earlier this season...Hmmm....

Re: fa cup draw
The FA Cup is fucking shit now. This weekend has been a complete non event. It gets in the way of the real football, move the poxy thing to midweek. No game this weekend and now another blank weekend on the 18th. It's shit.

Re: fa cup draw
Is there not another premiership team we've yet to play against where the game can be brought forward to the 18th?

Would probably happen if 2 "big" clubs were out of the cup (but still in Europe, for instance).

Re: fa cup draw
Exactly my thoughts boy 40, just like the other wretched cup. The 'big' four are not only kept apart but two play home and two away to show fairness!!

The draw for the other cup, if I remember correctly, took place in the middle of the night in some place far away and wasn't it delayed? All very suspicious to my way of thinking.

Re: fa cup draw
We haven't got any midweek fixtures left to move to the 18th, so to get one on that date, we'd have to move a weekend fixture, and play ManU on the date made free.

But then, whoever was due to play ManU on the freed-up date, would have the same problem of a free weekend.

I don't expect the schedule is going to be rewritten enough for this to happen

Re: fa cup draw
Been discussed on here before but there needs to be a major rethink of the FA Cup
As said this weekend has been as flat as witches tit and just a tiresome break.
Seen as an inconvenience or a distraction until you get to a semi final
I see Mawson of Swansea watched the game with his leg in a brace after injuring himself in the warm up . Probably the most interesting thing that happened including this new seeded quarter final draw they’ve introduced on the sly.

Re: fa cup draw
Think the FA know interest in the fa cup in this country has dropped massively but abroad, particlarly the far east, they’ll still buy into it all. Therefore to keep that market going they’ll fix the draw to get all the big clubs in the quarter and semi finals.

Rochdale 1 Yids 0

Re: fa cup draw
The FA have sabotaged interest in its Cup, as shown when they allowed Man U drop out for season.

Can't remember if there used to be a "strongest available team" requirement, but restoring it/slapping one on should've been done ages ago.

Re: fa cup draw
That wasn't good but it was one season
Its just been elbowed aside by the Champions league and the fear of not being in the Premier league

Re: fa cup draw
Isn't the draw set so that the minnows get a better chance at a big pay day against a prem side? rather than a potential draw of Man City v Man Utd in round 3?

Eddie B 4:23 Mon Feb 19
Re: fa cup draw
Nope, it's apparently entirely 'random'.
